Peptide antibodies

For generation of peptide antibodies traditional hybridoma technologies are applied, where the relevant peptide is coupled to a carrier, whereafter mice are immunized. After repeated boostings spleen cells are harvested and fused with an immortalized cell line, to produce the relevant peptide antibodies.

To ensure production of high-quality peptide antibodies is it essential to cap the peptides in the terminals to avoid antibodies recognizing the terminal ends, and to screen for peptide antibody reactivity in the assays they are attended to be used in.
